Intended Use of Micros Reagents To be used for blood cell counting, sizing, and WBC differentiation, hemoglobin determination on ABX ( Horiba ) MICROS 45 Hematology Analyzers. Questionare: What is a hematology reagent with barcode?
Currently, three part models needn’t scan the barcode in common, and it can be used directly with connecting the reagent bottle.
There are some models that have to scan barcode to identify new reagents, like Beckman Coulter AcT diff, Mindray 5 part models and so on.
Currently, the manufacturers of instrument are aware of the importance of consumables, so the long-term trend is to make a closed reagent system by scanning barcode to change new reagents. However, the end customers will not willing to be completely close considering of cost and benefit so there are closed system and open system in the market.
Closed system: The manufacturers impose restrictions on software by scanning their barcode when changing reagents to prevent other compatible reagents.
Open system: The manufacturers do not impose restrictions on software so that reagents can be used no matter what brands.
