Monkeypox Virus Antigen Rapid Test Manual

[Mpox Test Intended Use]

The Monkeypox Virus Antigen Rapid Test is an immuno-chromatographic test for in vitro qualitative determination of Monkeypox in human skin lesion material, including swabs of lesion surface and/or exudate, roofs from more than one lesion, or lesion crusts.

[Mpox Test Principle]

The Monkeypox Virus Antigen Rapid Test is a one-step chromatographic sandwich immunoassay designed for the quantitative measurement of Monkeypox Virus in lesion exudate, plasma or serum. After addition of a sample, Monkeypox Virus will bind with a colloidal gold-labeled antibody on the conjugate release pad. The resulting complex overflows a nitrocellulose membrane where a specific capture antibody to Monkeypox Virus is pre-coated and a red line can be seen at a test zone (T). Unreacted colloidal gold-labeled antibody in the sample is captured at control zone(C).

[Mpox Test Use]

Bring tests, specimens, buffer and/or controls to room temperature (15- 30°C) before use.

1. Tear the aluminum foil on the extraction buffer tube.

2. Place the swab specimen in the extraction tube. Rotate the swab for approximately 10 seconds while pressing the head against the inside of the tube to release the antigen in the swab.

3. Remove the swab while squeezing the swab head against the inside of the Extraction Tube as you remove it to expel as much liquid as possible from the swab. Discard the swab in accordance with your biohazard waste disposal protocol.

4. Fit the dropper tip on top of the extraction tube. Place the test cassette on a clean and level surface.

5. Add 2 drops of the solution to the sample well and then start the timer.

6. Wait for the colored band(s) to appear. The result should be read within 15 minutes. Do not interpret the result after 20 minutes.
